If you had an indulgent summer, don’t beat yourself up or go to any extremes, start listening to your body instead. Over the long weekend, I went a little bit too far with my gluttony and my body responded the only way it knew how to. By the time we’d paid our bill and caught an Uber home, I knew what was coming and only just made it to the bathroom to vomit in a spectacular fashion.
No I haven’t sworn off anything but I’ve decided to take it a little easy on my gut because following that incident I haven’t been very well this past week. What’s right for me, may not be right for you. What I’m really trying to say is there are plenty of ways to detox and expel toxins from our body without extremes – but the key here is to listen to your body.
There are times when you need to eat that gorgeous cookie but there are also times when you need to drink a green smoothie. This green smoothie is the anti-detox, not because it isn’t healthy but because of what it represents. This green smoothie is me tuning into my gut and giving my body what it most needs right now: a delicious and healthy green smoothie, made with pear, celery, ginger, mint and lemon.
After all love comes in many different forms. There is no one way to love yourself and starting the day off with this anti-detox green smoothie is just another way. That being said, this really is a delicious and healthy anti-detox green smoothie. Celery and pear are so refreshing together and alongside some mint, ginger and lemon, this makes one potent anti-detox green smoothie.
- (Serves Two)
- 120ml coconut water
- 120ml filtered water
- 1 large celery stick, chopped
- 1/2 a ripe pear, chopped
- A small piece of ginger, finely chopped
- A handful of fresh mint
- A squeeze of lemon
- Blitz all the ingredients together in your blender and serve immediately.
