“Little Alice fell

the hOle,
bumped her head
and bruised her soul”

― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

Away with the fairies I am, or at least that’s what I’ve been told. Unlike Alice, I refused to leave Wonderland! A curiouser and curiouser world where food has magical properties, it can always be tea-time, you can believe in anything you want to before breakfast and one can ponder life’s mysteries: why is a raven like a writing desk? Who could blame me for not wanting to leave?

The truth is in my world food does have magical properties, it does all the wonderful things like nourish and make me glow inside out. My imagination extends to ravens and writing desks, much like the meaning of life, there is no answer, you have to create your own meaning and think of as many impossible things before breakfast.

Not one for massive parties, I celebrated my 31st over the weekend with my family, where we embraced our free child. We ate way too much dessert (albeit mostly lactose and gluten free), played ridiculous party games like musical chairs (do this) and decided that growing older and wiser in this way, is just fabulous.

Party Planning Tips

Dessert Bar: surprise your guests, make chocolate mousse with avocados, throw them off with sweet AND salty popcorn, do crazy things with cake-pops (like making them vegan and gluten-free), always include a sundae bar with adorable ice cream cups (So Delicious coconut ice cream is a dream) and think mini everything: cupcakes, potions, mousses…

Do a hookah bar, it makes everything smell amazing and you have the kind of conversations one would have with sage old caterpillar.

Paint the odd rose red and house in empty jam jars, put up quotes from Alice in Wonderland, because we’re all mad here! Don’t forget fairy lights and playing cards.

OMG Sahar this is so adorable! Wow, how genius. I love the ‘drink me’ bottles especially. This is super cute. Musical chairs sounds like a ton of fun, too (especially if you’ve had a couple of drink me bottles…). I hope you had an amazing birthday, you deserve it. So much love for this. x
